I'm reading Two Towers at the moment and during the Battle of Helms Deep all I can think about is when Legolas asked Aragorn where Gimlis gone and Aragorn is like "last I saw him he was outside the walls"

I thought it was gonna be a cute little "awww Legolas cares about his well being!!" moment and goes to find him or something. But no.

Legolas just needed to tell Gimli that he was getting his ass HANDED to him in this game

Am i the only one who doesn't understand the hate the creature gets when he's completely human again at the end of the movie?

Like i get it, no more quiet zombie cutie. But i think it's cute that throughout the film lisa was taking care of him and helping him slowly become more human. But now it's his turn to take care of his now zombie wife. I just think he's a sweetheart no matter what.

something absolutely lovely about especially the first half of fellowship is that the hobbits keep meeting random kind helpful strangers - the elves, bombadil, butterbur, aragorn (also farmer maggot and his wife, though they're not strangers) - until the book solidifies in you the feeling that these are not really instances of random luck, but rather the inherent nature of the world. kind people are everywhere, and no matter where you are, there is surely someone closer than you think that would offer help if you needed it. it's such a beautiful theme across all of LOTR, and it's very sweet to me that it starts from the very beginning of the journey, on such a 'small' (comparatively), everyday scale
